Wildlife Day at Killerton

Another great thing about the National Trust is that they hold heaps of activities for kids and adults throughout the year. It was Mid-Term break here last week, so we got together with Janet and her girls and went to Killerton House and Gardens for a Wildlife Day. We had a great time.

Here is Sophia and Leilani making 'bark prints'

And Emily is looking at the pond creatures, I learnt a few things about these little pond creatures - it was quite interesting and boy are there hundred and thousands of tiny little things swimming around in a pond!

Waiting in line to build a bird box! Lani just watched the other girls this time - she made a lady bird house instead and planted a pumpkin seed... which she keeps expecting to see all big and orange every morning!!

Picnic Lunch on wet grass - always fun! We just had a week of rain - most rain we have had since being here. Lucky though because the grounds needed it ready for a week of HEAT! (it has been around 28˚c most days!) Love it!

Playing 'catch' before we get back to the wildlife trail.

Leilani and Emily love Adelphi and Sophia. They also have a baby sister Hannah.

Lani finding clues on the trail.

Sophia trying to read the map... Lani and Adelphi up a head.

At the end each child got to pick a little toy animal and a chocolate. Emily choose a Gecko - he is really cool, sorry, don't have a photo!

And this is one of the views from Killerton, very English looking don't you think! It really is a beautiful Country.

Because we were there doing all the wildlife stuff I didn't get a chance to go into the house, and we only saw half of the garden... but it was such a nice day and is only 1/2 hour away, in North Devon. So we will head back there with Daddy I think!

I love that meadow of wildflowers (and it looks like you're going to get LOTS of use out of your NT membership!). The girls are looking as sweet as always.

Isn't the internet just great. I have been in Hobart looking after Rach and Paul's chn while they are at the temple. Nice to be able to catch up anywhere via the computer and internet. I am seriously doubting how much we are going to be able to see with you when we arrive. Each posting you make is so great and makes you just want to explore all the more. Give the girls a big hug from Grandma and Poppa.

The parks all seem so nice Han. I'm jealous of the weather! It is POURING here right now!! Don't get me wrong, rain is good but it's hard keeping Livy indoors!!

looks like such a great time was had. I love the outdoors. I'm with Livy, "get me outta here". The rain is a pain...especially in school holidays.

Hey just a little update Han, your piano is getting a really good workout. It gets a tinkering pretty much every day x 3. Hope we don't wear it out! Thanks heaps x
