Just Happy To Be Home

These two little girls really are just happy to be home! When you think of all the things they have seen this year, and all the extra special things they have done - playing play dough is still at the top of their list of favourite things to do!! Emily is especially a play dough lover - I guess what 2 year old isn't!? I took these photos one day back in August, they were sitting here chatting away to each other with not a care in the world while I was ironing away (it's a great life being a kids really isn't it!). This room, even though it's nearly always a mess is great and I'm really going to miss it when we move. It's on the top floor and we use it all the time because we can make a mess up there and then come back down stairs to a clean rest of the house at the end of the day! Perfect!

Looks like a fun room. Mia looked at your blog with me this morning, and kept saying (while pointing at Emily) "that's Mia playing with play dough"

Isn't it funny how kids just love the really simple things in life. The girls would have no idea how amazing all the places you guys are visiting are and how lucky they really are. They will appreciate it a lot more when they are older and won't remember it, but they are lucky they have all these photos and blog posts to look back on.

How cool to have an upstairs room that can be left messy! Maybe thats what we need to turn underneath our house into...

The simples things sure are what kids love best, I also think kids love routine even if they dont know it hehe...with maybe just a special thing every now and again too. (or in your case a whole years worth of special things).

what a great room, i keep wanting to turn the garage into one of those, (and for all my 'things' too!!) but don't think i have much chance now we have the new car. looks like you are accumulating a lot of things, what are you going to do with it all when you come home?? (there might be some other lucky little girls there when you leave..!!)

Well if Blanches ambition in life is to meet the maker of play dough then I think I have heard it all!! - And SHE WILL get to meet the maker of play dough one day!! I on the other hand will be meeting the maker of hot chips!!!

Oh, and about the blog, the girls looks SO grown up in these pictures. It's weird because you know that they are older but you still imagine them to be not older...!

Lani and Emily have to be the cutest couple of girls I know. They look very entertained and I bet it was nice to just be at home and have them have things that they enjoyed doing... They certainly look happy.

It is amazing that it is still the small and simple things that engage kids. I sometimes wonder at all the glitter and glam that we force onto kids. Just give them the old 'pots and pans' stuff and they love it. The kids eyes would light up when I would bring out an old box at school and then they would spend hours making cubbies, having a shipwreck, etc. The girls look like they are having a ball.

Because everyday is different and we can't remember them all, I thought I had better start writing them down. Welcome to life in the Challis home - where everyday is different!
