Legoland Windsor

Our latest trip away was to Windsor - which is just outside London - so it was about a 2 hour drive away. The drive seemed quite long really - probably because it was wet and foggy. Mick worked the Wednesday night shift so he forfeited his sleep on Thursday and we headed up just after lunch (thanks Mickey). We had a drive around Windsor and Eton and went to the biggest Tesco store we have seen (supermarket) to stock up on some food for our 'movie night'. But before heading back to the hotel, we went to Nandos (for the 1st time since being here!) It was yummy as usual, but things were a little different. The chips tasted like normal hot chips and not 'Nandos chips' so that was a little disappointing, but it was still good good good!

The girls have seen Disney's 'Bedtime Stories' advertised quite a bit lately, so I thought we would get that to watch for our hotel movie night - they loved it, and I think it was the first non-cartoon movie they have ever seen. They laughed their heads off at some parts and talk about it all the time now! Although Lani doesn't call it Bedtime Stories, she calls it Disney Blue Ray! LOL - Because on the adds they are always saying "get it now on Disney Blue Ray or DVD... so for some reason that's what she thinks it called!!
Leilani and Emily have never been to the cinema but I'm thinking they would probably enjoy it now - so I'm waiting for something to come out that might be good to take them too... how exciting, our first trip to the movies!!

Bedtime Stories

Anyway, after a very fun movie night we all went to bed and had a good nights sleep.... ready for our big day at LEGOLAND!

We were so lucky and had absolutely gorgeous weather - it was even quite hot at times, (and yes, it is possible to get sunburnt in Britain) I hadn't really packed for such nice weather though, so we lacked a little in summer clothes, (hence Lani's socks)  but we did okay!

This is the view from Legoland looking down onto Windsor Castle. It was a beautiful spot.

Leilani's first ride for the day was on a roller-coaster, but she makes sure that anyone she tells knows that it was a 's l o w one!! Because she doesn't like the fast ones... just the slow ones.'

Lani surprised me, and was quite brave - she loved it! Emily decided not to go because it looked 'a bit scary' but after Lani went she thought maybe she would give it ago.... so she lined up with Daddy only to be told she wasn't tall enough.... so that was a bit sad... but we did find some rides for her.

This was a fairy tale boat ride, with lots of different fairy tale characters to spot along the way - it was quite good.

It took over 25 million blocks to make legoland....  and you can see why!

Yes, I did enjoy this little train ride and no I didn't feel like a total loser! But yes.... I was happy to get off once it went around 3 times!

It was fun driving this boat around, the girls loved it - especially when I rammed some little kids and overtook them!

Yep, all made of lego...

Lani and Daddy going on a Safari...

... while Emily entertains herself talking to a pole! (She was actually really good, and didn't complain once that she couldn't ride.... she would just say 'I too little'.

Mick and I took turns going on this crazy safari roller-coaster ride - it was actually quite scary and not really all that thrilling... but I was on it with 2 non-English speaking kids, so that was kinda entertaining listening to them squeal in Spanish!!

Mick on the raft ride - thought we had better not take Lani after the one in QLD when she started screaming/crying - which then made Will start crying which left the rest of us feeling terrible! Oh... what fun we had on that trip though huh?

The toilet signs were quite funny - this is what you look for if you need a change room!!

This ride was hilerious, and I still can't believe our little Leilani went on it! It was kinda like a mini giant drop - but it didn't drop once it just kept on going up and down and up and down! While we were on it Lani said something about it making her tummy feel like it was going to fall out.... or something along those lines!! She loved it and was so proud of herself for going on it!!

And who does this remind you of Mum and Dad? Elle and I used to just love these big swings!!

Emily did get to go on a few things, but most of them we were all on so we didn't really get any pictures. They both had a great day and are hoping to go back again sometime... but we will see!

These last few pictures are of 'Mini world' which was just huge and so amazing... we didn't really have time to look at it all because it was closing time - so we just went around quickly - but it was all just so awesome! Cars and trains that really moved - boats floating and people marching, the list goes on - and it's all made out of lego of course! What a cool place!

That's sooo awesome. I think it's a bit sad that "Emily too small" but it's good that there were other rides that she could take. That little world looks awesome as well. I didn't actually think they had a lego world there. DId the girls want to buy a bunch of legos and build a bunch of stuff - I would!!! Anyway looks and sounds like it was worth Mick forgoing his sleep (poor bugger)

That last comment was actually Laura.

I like the pic of Emily on the ride with Mick. She just looks so cute. Lani is getting very brave and seems to be really enjoying the places she goes too.
The whole place looks amazing. I was thinking I would'nt bother with Legoland but now it's on the list.

What a great place to visit. The girls are certainly having the experience of a life time visiting all these places and the blog will be a wonderful journal for them to look back on as the years go by.
Our blog just seems so tame after all your wonderful adventures. Oh well, never mind....

I just checked out lego land again and it looks SO amazing. I am surprised that lani went on so many rides. Is mick on that water ride all by himself?? LOL that would have been fun!!!
A lego zoo would be the best to see because the animals wouldn't 'hide' and you could always guarentee they were going to be there!!

Sounds like an awesome day : )
