No Room To Move

The photos you have all been waiting for.... our kitchen!!!

Yes, that is it and no you don't go around the corner and open a big cupboard or find more bench space.... what you see is what you get!!!! It's very hard to even find space to make a sandwich and it is definitely a one person space only!!

This is our lovely oven that decided to start sending sparks at me last night. Now it doesn't work!! I was cooking away and then fzzzz fzzzz fzzzz sparks and flames started flying out everywhere.... it was quite scary and in all the panic I didn't do to badly. I managed to reach the switch and turn it off and then grab the pan off. It finally stopped and all was okay. My heart was pounding for a few minutes though! There is now 3 big burn holes in the coil and along the bottom of the pan. This place is just a danger zone!

Not to mention this lovely floor... there is definitely NO 10 second rule here... you drop it - you bin it!!!!

To get to the kitchen you walk past the 'dining room'! I cleared everything off the table so you could actually see it... I like this table... it wouldn't be very good if you were planning on having someone around for dinner but when it's just us its great because you can reach both the kids and it fits the food just nicely.... compared to our rectangle table at home where we just used one end.... so we were never all sitting 'around' the table together!

This is our TV! The Flat didn't come with one so we didn't have one for the first few days, which didn't really bother us too much, but Boris and Helen lent us this one when we visited them last Saturday, which we didn't turn on for a few more days because we had to buy a TV licence (just to watch normal TV). Once that was done we plugged her in and she works just fine!! The kids were very excited, even though they keep standing in front of it and  then no one else can see!!  There are a couple of kids TV shows here that they really like. Some are the same as at home and Lani will yell "This is on in Tasmania too!!'

And this is the lounge room... well the rest of the house!! The smallness didn't really bother us for the first week, but now it is just driving us crazy. The kids just have nowhere to go and as soon as they pull out some toys there is a mess everywhere and you're tripping over stuff!

The house is very warm because it has central gas heating, like most places. So you have a constantly warm house. Not sure what the cost is like, I guess we will find that out soon!! We should only be here for a few more days though as hopefully we will be moving on Saturday into the town centre. We would stay here but it's not really all that cheap for how crappy it is! I know it's only a year, but when you see what we are moving into for only a few more pounds a week you will understand!!! Hospital accommodation has a bit of a reputation for being like this, so we didn't expect too much. It's been great though, but we are ready to go.... hopefully our new place will feel a bit more like home, rather than 'hospital staff accommodation!!'

You should have grabbed the kids and your bags and let the place BURN. You wouldn't have had to admit that you got everything out.. you could have told the landlord that you lost a dog in the fire,...LOL
Anyway it doesn't look that bad but if that ever happens again and you see sparks - get a match and some petrol and get those girls out of that danger zone.

Get out while you can. Those sparks sound pretty dodgy. The girls will enjoy some space and will think they are in a mansion after that place, whatever its like in the new place. At least you don't have much stuff to move.

I don't think I'll ever complain again about our cosy little kitchen again. I will just think of you guys! I will also be grateful that I don't have to pay for TV. Hope you're happy with the new place and you get good water pressure!

Because everyday is different and we can't remember them all, I thought I had better start writing them down. Welcome to life in the Challis home - where everyday is different!
