Birthday Time!

After lots and lots of waiting Emily's birthday finally arrived!!! Here we have 2 very excited little girls on birthday morning...

Leilani was a very good big sister and showed Emily just what to do! (Cause sometimes the sticky tape was a bit too hard for Emily!)

First up was a beautiful rag doll from Grandma & Grandad, some puppets and a hair clip... I think Emily chose to open this one first because it has been sitting on the shelf for so long!

And then came the rest... it didn't take her long to work out the quickest way to open them!

We had a very busy morning talking to Grandad, The Carmichael Family, Grandma & Poppa and Grandma on ichat. In between playing with all the new (and mostly only)  toys!

We went out for lunch and a play with Maria and her 2 year old son Lucas to 'Brewers Fayre'. It's great there... it's like a restaurant with a play area attached so the kids can play (behind glass) while the grown-ups have a good lunch and chat (without the noise)!! Maria is lovely and it was great to have some adult conversation and get to know her. The girls loved Lucas and can't wait to play with him again.

Back home for the afternoon to clean up a bit, make more mess and get ready for the special birthday tea. The girls especially loved playing with Emily's new play doh set from Grandma & Poppa.

During all the play Emily was interrupted by a phone call from Aunty Laura, she was a crack up talking away and was having quite a good, clear conversation with Aunty Laura!

Emily chose to have a 'In the Night Garden' birthday and was very happy to sit up at the table with the new table cloth, plates and cups! She was so excited about the 'mat' (table cloth) that during blessing she whipped out a 'Thank you for the... NEW MAT'!! It was very hard to not crack up!!

After our Spaghetti we played pass the parcel and had a treasure hunt.

Opening up the treasure....

New books are very exciting here, I really need to get back to the Library, because we are all getting sick of reading the same ones!!!

After the games it was birthday cake time!!! I think it doesn't get much better than watching a little kid look at their birthday cake and the pretty candles... you can see it in their eyes, just how happy they are!!

They have heaps of novelty cakes here in the supermarkets, unfortunately no In The Night Garden ones though, so Emily picked Peppa Pig, which she quite likes anyway. The kids have been eyeing them off ever since our first trip in there, so they were very excited when the day came to go and get one. It was quite nice to not have to cook the cakes this year.... and more so to not have to decorate them... which I might as well just be honest and say I'm crap at anyway!!!
The night ended with birthday hugs and 2 very excited but tired little girls... all that waiting and now it's over!

Emily's birthday was probably the hardest day I have had since being here, the excitement of a birthday also brought a few tears. Lani had a few jealousy issues I think, and Emily was determined to win any tug of war they got into!!! They have both been SO good and happy the whole time we have been here I guess they were bound to snap sooner or later. A few days later Lani got a cold, so I think that may have been some of the problem on Emily's birthday as well. It was also very busy for us.... unlike our usual relaxed, got no friends or appointments to go to carefree days! (Which have been great!!) It was however a good day and so nice, but sad to see our little girl turn 2!

you are way lucky you have two cute little girls to take pics of. I'm sure the UK wouldn't be as fun if it was just you and Mick and we'd all be bored of pics of you two..ha ha. Anyway - I'm glad Lani is feeling better. GO get some batteris for their walkies

Glad Emily had a lovely birthday, the cake looks great! Must've been very exciting to get some parcels in the mail, kids just love parcels (and so do I!). Give the girls a big hug from us all here, Gracie is missing Lani and is wondering when next year will come and she will be back home.

yes it looks like they had a fun day, it might have been a bit sad not having any friends or cousins there, but it looks like you made it a special day anyway! we got your parcel the other day, it was very exciting, the card was a great hit!! lots of dancing!!!! the game is good too, but marty thinks 2 people have to play it all the time cos there is 2 rods....thanks - we posted the girls after getting it, it reminded me...the other day i said i just had to get my wallet so we could go to the shop and marty said could he get his. i told him he doesn't have one, and he said, well lani has one, (and said whatever it was, which i can't remember) and then said he'd like a spiderman one! funny what they remember. miss you xx

The cake is very impressive. I think the supermarkets should supply cakes like that here. I always feel a bit sad when my kids have birthdays too. It's great you made it such a memorable day for Emily. She's so cute!

lani and emily look like they are besties. i think that's so nice for them to be so close as sisters. what a special birthday for em. very cool cake too.

Because everyday is different and we can't remember them all, I thought I had better start writing them down. Welcome to life in the Challis home - where everyday is different!
